Cronartium ribicola

Deep bowl with seep sides, natural markings and live edges.

The large bowl was sitting in my studio for a long time. I turned it part way and then stopped. Wasn't so much that I lost my way, but I wanted to really get the shape right and I knew I didnt have it in mind yet.

But setting aside project can be really good. The wood settles, if it has any significant amount moisture left to loose and so does the mind.

I was able to return with a new perspective, a renewed excitement and a vision for the final piece.
It's pretty common that I'll have a dozen or so pieces sitting in my studio, all in different stages of creation. Sometimes these work other times they don't, but become catalysts for new ideas and new work.
